Let’s take a trip in our time machine to 1998 when Barack Obama was running for Illinois State Senate for the second time. He filled out the National Political Awareness Test put forth by Project Vote Smart. The test was a wide-ranging survey of political issues that included gun issues.
Here’s Obama’s responses to the gun issues section:
He checked his support next to all three responses describing stricter gun control, including “Ban the sale or transfer of all forms of semi-automatic weapons.”
I searched extensively but was unable to find any record of President Obama ever disavowing his response to this survey.
