This is some premium Newt putting the smack down on Chris Matthews after Matthews accused Mitt Romney of being racist for talking about welfare. Newt counters by pointing the mirror right back at Chris Matthews asking him, ”Why do you assume that food stamp recipients are black? What kind of racist thinking is that?”

It’s this side of Newt that carried his campaign so far during the primary season. I’m not sure anyone thought he was the best candidate for President, but what fun it would have been to see Gingrich on the debate state with President Obama.
