Hey kids, want three parents? Move to California.

California is a messed up place. It’s the only state that routinely has a deficit of tens of billions of dollars. It’s the state that just had the largest American city ever to declare bankruptcy. It’s a state whose citizens are filled with such violence, that the mayors of its major cities don’t even know how to combat it. It’s a state whose public employee union pensions are so bloated that there is literally no way to achieve fiscal solvency without unprecedented cuts. Yeah, it’s a state that seemingly has more problems than people.

So excuse me if I wonder why a “multiple mommies” law is suddenly a priority for California Democrats.

From the Sacramento Bee (Via the KC Star):

Beaver had June and Ward.

Ricky had Ozzie and Harriet.

Mom and Dad, same-sex couples or blended families, California law is clear: No more than two legal parents per child.

When adults fight over parenthood, a judge must decide which two have that right and responsibility – but that could end soon.

State Sen. Mark Leno is pushing legislation to allow a child to have multiple parents.

“The bill brings California into the 21st century, recognizing that there are more than Ozzie and Harriet families today,” the San Francisco Democrat said.

You know, I’m tempted to not believe this story but since it was from a reputable news source and it’s not April 1st, my only conclusion is that the people of California have officially gone mad. Is there any other rational conclusion one could come to?
