Help Stop Cap and Trade

The Largest Tax in American History...

219-212

I think I've seen this episode before:
  • The democrats added hundreds of pages of legislation to the bill overnight.
  • Not one representative actually read the entire bill.
  • The Obama administration broke its promise to us about giving the American people at least 5 days to read the bill.
  • Americans lit up the switchboard in Washington to no avail.
The bill in all its glory:
http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/query/C?c111:./temp/~c111YKKAz5

Number of Words in the bill:
145,464

And now, the largest tax in American history is on its way to the senate to become law. So far, not one, solitary, massive spending bill brought before either house has been stopped. Should we not be concerned about how we will pay for this? I submit that we should be concerned. In fact, it should worry both Democrats and Republicans as our freedoms are literally being stolen from us by the people we elected to represent us.

Just like every time before, the democrats couldn't have done it without the help of some Republicans. The Republicans who voted for the massive tax increase:

Name                                District                 State

Mary Bono Mack               45                         California

Michael  Castle                 At-Large               Delaware

Leonard Lance                   7                           New Jersey

Frank LoBiondo                  2                           New Jersey

John McHugh                     23                         New York

Dave Reichert                    8                           Washington

Chris Smith                        4                            New Jersey

Mark Kirk                           10                          Illinois

Had any 4 of these 8 Republicans voted on principle, we would not be facing this government-caused crisis. Feel free to call or write the reps above and tell them how you feel.

My Congressman's Response

After I both called and wrote my congressman telling them to vote NO on any sort of Cap and Tax legislation, I received a stock letter from his office explaining his obvious thoughtful, hard-lined stance on the subject of Global Warming prevention.

Here is the letter, complete with my response to each section:

Thank you for contacting me with your concerns about proposed cap and trade legislation.
(Good statement. I am, indeed, concerned about the proposed cap and trade legislation)

This is one of the most important bills coming before Congress this year, and I appreciate your input.
(Another wonderful statement. It's extremely important...that it doesn't pass)

I believe global warming poses economic and national security risks.
(I agree with half of this statement. While something that doesn't exist cannot possibly create any risk, manmade panic and fear of something that doesn't exist can and will cause economic and national security risks)

Nevertheless, I share your concern that Congress must pass a bill that provides economic opportunities alongside environmental protection - while protecting consumers.
(Here's where things really go off track. I never said, in my phone call to him or my email to him, that I wanted any bill passed regarding global warming. Not only is he on the fence, he's on the wrong fence)

Cap and trade is one solution, yet its costs, scope, and complexity require our closest care.
(Cap and trade is NOT a solution. The costs, scope and complexity are irrelevant as it is wrong in priniple)

I do not believe that the bill which recently passed the Energy and Commerce committee is perfect.
(Me neither)

But I do believe that it is a meaningful first step.
(On the fence again...the wrong one. False premise)

I am closely following the bill as it moves through the House of Representatives, and I will continue to work with my colleagues to craft an effective, efficient, and fair solution to global warming.
(I agree, again, with half of this statement. While he should be closely following this and any bill that passes through congress, he shouldn't be proactive in creating any new legislation that would inhibit industry and tax Americans)

Thank you again for taking the time to write to me on this important topic. I truly appreciate hearing from you.
(Yadda Yadda Yadda...)

Just the tax ma'am

Algore, armed with his trusty non-science is in Nashville today making phone calls to his evil buddies in the house attempting to get Cap and Tax rushed through tomorrow.

Keep in mind, this is the largest tax in American History:

Call your representative now and tell them to vote NO on this Tax bill!

Health Care, DMV style.

That's right. One point six trillion dollars. More than twice as much as the Federal Government has ever spent on anything, ever. That's how much the congressional budget office estimates we'll be spending for B.O.'s version of government-run health care. So much for paygo. So much for fiscal responsibility. So much for reason. Who's going to pay for this? Seriously.

Fun facts about $1.6 Trillion
  • Pennies could be stacked 154 million miles; i.e. about 62 million miles past the sun.
  • End-to-end, dollar bills would stretch around the Earth more than 6 times.
  • Dollar Bills would weigh 3.5 billion pounds; about the same as all the people in Texas.
  • Nickels would weigh a mere 17.6 billion pounds; roughly the same weight as all the people in Wyoming, Washington DC, Vermont, North Dakota, Alaska, South Dakota, Delaware, Montana, Rhode Island, Hawaii, New Hampshire, Maine, Idaho, Nebraska, West Virginia, New Mexico, Nevada, Utah, Kansas, Arkansas, Mississippi, Iowa, Connecticut, Oklahoma, Oregon, Kentucky, Louisiana, South Carolina, Alabama, Colorado, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Maryland, Missouri, Tennessee, Indiana, Massachusetts, Arizona and Washington...combined.
  • Here's the clincher: you could spend one dollar every second and it would take you not one year, not ten years, not a thousand years, but over fifty thousand years to spend it all. Fifty. Thousand. Years.
Come on people. There is no crisis even close the to crisis that we'll cause by spending this inconceivable amount of money. Let your congressman know today!

Time to Act

As many of you know, Barack Obama recently fired inspector general Gerald Walpin suddenly and without just cause which is in clear violation of the law. Ironically, the law, which requires 30 days notice and a valid explanation before the firing of an IG, was sponsored by Obama while he was a senator. As if this wasn't enough to warrant skepticism, prior to his firing, Walpin had been involved in the ongoing investigation of a long time friend and financial doner of Barack Obama for misappropriation of hundreds of thousands of taxpayer dollars. In other words, Walpin was doing his job and was fired for it. When questioned about the purpose of the firing, the White House responded by insulting Walpin, calling him "Confused" and "Disoriented".

Meanwhile, the media continues to sweep this (along with countless other questionable acts of our new president) under the rug.

Let me get this strait. The government-backed UAW destroys GM. GM goes in debt and threatens bankruptcy. B.O.'s government says "crisis! must...bail...out" and gives $100 Billion to GM to save it from bankruptcy. GM goes bankrupt anyway. B.O. owns GM. B.O. sends a 31 year old Hillary Clinton campaign advisor with no business experience to "dismantle" GM and restructure it. Our founders would be so proud!
